MARA NISSLEY
Mara Nissley is the Communications and Events Manager for the ALS Hope Foundation. Her work honors her beloved Grandfather who passed away from ALS in 2000. In her story, Mara tells us of the connection between her Grandfather’s gentle teaching and her desire to make a difference in the lives of people living with ALS. Mara’s story won 2nd Place and the $100 prize for ALS HOPE at the first MISSION Story Slam.

Grace Palladino
Grace Palladino is a veteran educator, having taught History and Civics in the Philadelphia School District for over a decade. Currently, she is the School Coordinator for Committee of Seventy’s Draw The Lines initiative and is teaching at Temple University. Grace is writing the book, Civics On Tap for Temple University Press based on her long-running series of humorous bar lectures held monthly at National Mechanics in Philadelphia.

Jamie Bogert is Managing Editor and Audience Engagement Coordinator at the Philadelphia Citizen, a non-profit, nonpartisan media organization that emphasizes solutions and promotes active citizenship in the Philadelphia region. Jamie is also a newly-minted Democratic Committee Person of Philly’s 27th ward, 5th Division in West Philadelphia. She also sells pickles at the Rittenhouse Farmers Market.

LAWRENCE HUSICK
Lawrence Husick is a founding partner of Lipton, Weinberger & Husick, an Intellectual Property and Technological Law Firm, and Chief Innovation Officer of Cloud Pharmaceuticals, Inc. He is a faculty member at the Whiting Graduate School of Engineering and the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences Graduate Biotechnology Program of the Johns Hopkins University and Co-Chairman of the Foreign Policy Research Institute’s Center for the Study of Terrorism where he concentrates on the study of terrorist tactics and counterterrorism strategies. He is also co-founder and principal system architect of Infonautics Inc. (now HighBeam Research), which originated the Electric Library and Encyclopedia.com on the World Wide Web, for which he was awarded five U.S. patents.
