MISSION Story Slam Podcast Atiyah Harmon MISSION Story Slam 13: Braver Today

“I noticed Black girls severely underrepresented in the STEM field, but girls in schools also weren’t excelling in math for several reasons including math identity and underrepresentation . So I created a curriculum to teach math differently, to honor the girls' thinking and problem-solving capabilities.

The development of Black Girls Love Math centers on the belief that a positive identity and growth mindset for girls that identify as Black will lead to positive outcomes in achievement and overall identity.”
